Hello soul tribe, I trust that you are well.
This subject seems to be present quite a lot, especially since the pandemic. It seems like its been off the Richter scale at times.
I am talking about Worry and Anxiety!
Worry and anxiety are something we all experience at times, especially during challenging seasons. So first, let me reassure you—is worrying normal? Yes, it is. Feeling anxious or overwhelmed is part of being human. We all do this, even though it feels uncomfortable because we’re here to feel all of the emotions.
But, most of us don't like this feeling, do we?
It feels off! Unbalanced, wrong, and the monkey mind can set in rather quickly if we don't take charge of it.
We can sometimes allow our minds and our thoughts to take over.
Our thoughts can quickly spiral into worst-case scenarios or ‘catastrophic thinking’.
But so many of the things we imagine never even happen. And yet, when we focus on them, they feel all too real.
It’s our thoughts that give us anxiety
It‘s mostly our thoughts and visions that seem to make anxiety worse.
Anxiety usually comes from the mind racing ahead, imagining problems or replaying fears. The “monkey mind” can get loud if we let it.
But how you respond to your thoughts makes all the difference.
When you catch yourself worrying, take a moment to pause and observe.
Ask: “Is this thought really true?”
Often, you’ll notice that the anxious scenario is just a story your mind is creating.
This awareness is the first step to taking back your power, managing anxious thoughts and calming your nervous system.
Take a step back from the thought, get into the moment and take away the power it has over you.
I share tips on how to do this in this Youtube video.
